Scapolite Crystal Large 18gm Natural Rough Double Terminated Pale Yellow Mineral Specimen. Gem Rough Wire Wrap Jeweler Healing Stone
This 2+ inch, 90.35ct, pale yellow scapolite crystal has natural terminations on each end and areas with gemmy transparency. It has natural yellow color along its c-axis.
The weight is 90.35 ct or 18.08 gm.
Tubular inclusions.
Dimensions: 52mm in length x 18mm highest point x16mm wide when viewed from the perspective of the first photo…. (25mm = 1 inch)
The coin in the photos is a US copper penny (19.05mm in diameter)
The first 4 photos show the transparency of the crystal in bright morning sunlight. The last photo is the crystal under incandescent light – you can see the darker color as the light is reflected from the surface of the stone rather than passing though it.
Also visible in this last photo are iridescent red, yellow, and green spots of reflected light in various areas of the crystal. This reminds me of the Schiller effect we see in Imperial Topaz.
The photos are of the crystal (scap-6) offered here , and the colors on the photos look about right. I find the shape really interesting and unusual. The many indentations, nooks and crannies being so interesting, I took about 50 photos of the crystal Check out the ones I posted, and if you have any questions, message me for prompt response.
————————————————————————–
I began selling gems and minerals and studying gemology in the late 1980’s. I travelled around the states with gem/mineral and craft shows for a couple of years before settling in Gainesville, FL where I opened a shop called The White Cloud. In 1992, I got a job counseling, packed all the store stuff away and forgot about it until now. What a surprise to find these beautiful crystals and minerals after all that time…
