Big Brother and the Holding Company, and Sly and the Family Stone opened the new Fillmore West with this concert. This venue was formerly known as the Carousel and El Patio ballroom. The “AD Back” handbill was used to spread the word of the opening of this new venue.
Bill Graham spent two years at the Fillmore Auditorium. In July 1968, he moved the venue due to a declining neighborhood and limited hall capacity. The original building was located at 1805 Geary Boulevard. The new venue is at 10 South Van Ness Avenue. Now, it’s called Fillmore West. This is to contrast it with Graham’s Fillmore East in New York City.
The Card is crisp with bright colors, no creases, sharp corners and tape residue on the back. The photos are of the card that’s offered so check them out carefully… any questions, message me for a quick response.

Provenance:
While living in San Francisco from 1966-1968, I collected many Haight-Ashbury concert cards. Most of what I have, however, were sent by Bill Graham in 1968. I had asked him about selling concert posters in my soon-to-open Baltimore bookstore, The Aquarian Age Bookstore. They sent me a postcard from each concert as a poster sample. I decorated my walls and journals with some, while others were stored in a zippered leather binder. Despite my many travels, it’s astonishing that they’re still in excellent condition.
