Native American Turquoise Silver Ring size 9.25 maker’s mark “HEX” Vintage 1950’s
Dimensions: table is 22x24mm, height from top to bottom is 24mm; weight is 18gm
I suspect this is Navajo or perhaps Zuni made… both of these Southwest tribes are well known for their inlay creations. …
“… the Zuni artists/silversmiths usually create jewelry that is more delicate and somewhat shinier. The Navajo artists create with a little more bulkiness and less luster. Two different styles, but the concepts in designing them are the same… Both tribes like to use turquoise such as Sleeping Beauty and Kingman turquoise. They are both mined in Arizona, and can be purchased directly from the miner.” (…Native American Inlay Rings)
The “HEX” inscription has been recognized but the maker has not to my knowledge been identified… perhaps too old…
The ring was old looking when i got it in 1965.. I stopped wearing in the 70’s when I started playing hand drums and had to take it off every time I played so I wouldn’t damage the drum. But I liked it, so I kept it around all this time. Time for it to move on.
